Wayne Keith Sims 1944-2025

Wayne Keith Sims, 81, of Hereford, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. Graveside Services will be held at the Lubbock City Cemetery later next week. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Family and friend's visitation will be on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Wayne was born on May 29, 1944, in Lubbock, Texas. He was the youngest of four children born to Jack and Norma Sims.

After high school, Wayne enlisted in the US Army and served his country as a medic. After his service he attended South Plains College and gained his associates degree. He met and married Patricia Ann Cornett (Sims) on October 28, 1967. They had two daughters, Natalie Jane Sims and Krystal Latrice Sims (Cipriani). Wayne and Tricia were married for 48 years until her passing on November 26, 2015. He worked in the savings and loan business for 26 years and as a real estate appraiser for 22 years until his retirement in 2014.

Wayne was a member of First Baptist Church of Hereford, Texas. He was a gentle man of honor, love and kindness. He cared deeply for his wife and daughters and loved them sincerely. He worked hard to make a great life for his family and succeeded in that tremendously. His daughters think he was the best "girl dad" ever.

Wayne is survived by his two daughters, Natalie Sims of Hereford, Texas, Krystal Cipriani of Livingston, Montana and two grandsons, Jakob and Benjamin Cipriani also of Livingston, Montana. He is also survived by two sisters, Jacquenet Boyd and husband Robert of Hale Center, Texas and Sharon Wylie of Waco, Texas, as well as many other beloved in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Norma and Jack Sims, his wife, Patricia Sims, and his brother Ernie Sims as well as three brothers-in-law and one nephew.
