Wayne Reinart, 78, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2026, in Hereford.

Wayne was born in Hereford, Texas, on July 19, 1948, to Elmer and Irene (Artho) Reinart. After graduating from Hereford High School in 1966, he began a lifelong career in farming. On March 26, 2005, he married Gaylene (Hawkins) Reinart.

Wayne developed a passion for drag racing as a teenager. He loved building cars and explosives and delighted in the shock and surprise they brought to others. He played a key role in founding the Hereford Gun Club and remained an active member. He also belonged to Funny Car Chaos, Southwest Super Chargers, Rocky Mountain Super Chargers, and several other racing organizations. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time by his farm pond and among his trees. He especially loved sharing these pastimes with his sons, family, and friends.

Wayne was ornery, adventurous, and creative, always ready to share a story, strike a deal, patrol with friends as the Neighborhood Watch, or sell and deliver a case of barbecue sauce for a friend.

He is survived by his two sons, Todd Reinart and his wife, Lindsay, of Amarillo, Texas, and Wesley Reinart (Angela Wilson) of Plano, Texas; grandson, Blaine Reinart; stepdaughters, Reyla Auldridge (Tracy) of Booker, Texas, Shelly Hunsaker (Dusty) of Amarillo, Texas, and Kelly Brewer (Tim) of Amarillo, Texas; seven step-grandchildren and his step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Roy Reinart (Deby) of Hereford, Texas, Janie Banner (Mark) of Hereford, Texas, Paulette Borgognoni of Indonesia, Julie Reinart Larimer of Arlington, Texas, Melinda Sullivan (Mike) of Coppell, Texas, and Rhonda Baur (Butch) of Duluth, Georgia; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved schnauzer, Pepper.

He is preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Irene Reinart, wife Gaylene Reinart, and infant brother Sidney Eugene Reinart.

Memorial Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at 10:30 AM at St. Mary’s in Umbarger, Texas with Father Alvin Tshuma as celebrant. Arrangements and Cremation Services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford.
