Wanda June Williamson Hoover, 92, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023, in Amarillo, Texas. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at 2:00 PM at West Park Cemetery with Pastor Ted Taylor officiating. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas.

Wanda was born June 4, 1930, to Lulu Blanche Partin Williamson and Mark Edward Williamson in Portales, New Mexico. Wanda spent most of her younger years in Portales with just a few years in Tempe, Arizona. While in Portales she attended ENMU and worked as office manager at the Selective Service office until the war ended. Later in life she attended WTSU to gain more hours towards her degree. Charles and Wanda met while they both attended ENMU and then married on June 5, 1949. They lived at Walcott many years before moving to Hereford.

Wanda served on the hospital board as well as Big Brothers/Big Sisters Board. Wanda and Charles were awarded several awards as alumni of ENMU and were honored as Citizens of the Year for Hereford in 2013.

Wanda is preceded in death by her parents Blanche and Mark Williamson, her husband, Charles Hoover, her sister, Faye Whalen and her brother, Ed Williamson.

Wanda is survived by her two daughters, Connie Sublett and husband Jerry of Amarillo, Debbie Davis of Amarillo, five grandchildren, Jill Adami and husband Andrew of Ft. Worth, Jacob Sublett and wife Beth of Lubbock, David Sublett of Lubbock, Eric Black and wife Micah of Vega, Erin Love and husband Johnny of Amarillo, her sister-in-law, Jodi Williamson of San Antonio, and 10 great grandchildren.

The family suggest memorials be made to the Hereford Church of the Nazarene, 1410 LaPlata Drive, Hereford, Texas, 79045, or to a favorite charity.
