Vickie Ortiz, 76, of Hereford, Texas passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, in Hereford.

Vickie was born on September 3, 1949, in Wellington, Texas, to LeRoy and Loudene (Ward) Oswalt. She married Alfredo Ortiz in Hereford, September of 1969. Vickie attended La Plata Beauty School and briefly worked as a beautician. She was devoted homemaker, proudly supporting and encouraging her husband and three sons. She led Bluebirds for Campfire Girls and volunteered at the Hereford Senior Citizens Center and thrift store. Vickie was a talented singer in the church choir and served as a deaconess at the First Christian Church in Hereford. She loved cooking and baking for her family, especially favorites like peach cobbler, Thanksgiving dressing, and chicken fried steak. Gardening and caring for animals also brought her great joy. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother "Grammy".

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of 56 years, Alfredo Ortiz of Hereford, Texas; three sons, Shawn Ortiz and wife Breda of Amarillo, Texas, Lance Ortiz and wife Brandy of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Corey Ortiz and wife Brandi of Hereford, Texas; grandchildren Berkley, Bryson, and Cannon Ortiz; step grandchildren, Mark, Michael and Ashley Garcia, several step great grandchildren; and siblings Larry Oswalt and wife Jan of Vernon, Texas and Kim Bigham and husband Steve of Hereford, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents LeRoy and Loudene Oswalt.

Arrangements and Cremation Services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home.  A Memorial Service honoring Vickie will be at a later date and time.
