Velia Norez, 82, of Hereford, Texas passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018 in Hereford. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, August 18, 2018 at La Igelsia de San Jose Catholic Church at 4:30 PM with Rev. Ramon Molina Mora officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Villa Matamoros, Chihuahua, Mexico. Arrangements are being entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford. Rosary will be Friday evening at 6:00 PM at the funeral home

Velia was born May 6, 1936 to Manuel and Aurora (Guerrero) Ponce in Catarinas, Chihuahua, Mexico. She married Aurelio Norez-Chavez in 1952, she has been a Hereford resident for 18 years. Velia loved to cook, sew, go shopping, singing and dancing. She attended church at La Iglesia de San Jose Catholic Church. Velia was the best wife, mother, grandmother and mother-in-law anyone could ask for. She always wanted the best for her children and grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Aurelio Norez-Chavez of Hereford; seven sons, Gerardo Norez and wife Lorena; Adan Norez and wife Nora; Oscar Norez and wife Maria all of Hereford; Hector Norez and wife Monica, Jesus Norez and wife Marisela all of Albuquerque, N.M.; Aurelio Norez and wife Lupe of Liberal, KS. And Atilano Norez and wife Soledad of Midland; and one daughter, Irene Norez and husband Armando of Hereford; one sister, Maria Ponce of Los Charcos, Chihuahua, Mexico and a brother, Jesus Manuel Ponce and wife Malena of Ponce, Chihuahua, Mexico; 26 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren with two great granddaughters on the way.

Velia is preceded in death by her parents, two grandchildren, Baneza and Omar Norez; two sisters, Desideria and Elvira Ponce and two brothers, Jose and Federico Ponce.
