Tyler Teters, beloved son of John and Cora Teters, passed away Monday, February 23, 2026, in Canyon, Texas, at the age of 40.

Tyler was born July 17, 1985, in Amarillo, Texas. He attended the Church of the Nazarene and graduated from Hereford High School in 2004 and earned a Bachelor of Business degree from West Texas A&M University in 2008. Tyler went on to co-own, with his father, the Subway and Taco Bell in Hereford along with numerous Subway locations across the Texas Panhandle.

Those who knew Tyler best remember him for his creative spirit and the unique way he saw the world. One close friend affectionately described him as a "beautifully odd best friend," a reflection of the gentle individuality that made Tyler so special to the people around him.

Tyler had a deep love for the arts. He was a talented singer and piano player and found great joy in creating pottery. He also loved cooking and often expressed his care for others by preparing meals to share. Tyler had an excellent eye for detail and took pride in the things he created, whether in the kitchen, the garden or his art.

Hawaii held a special place in Tyler's heart. As a child, he traveled there often with his family, creating memories that stayed with him throughout his life. As an adult, he continued returning to the islands with friends. He was drawn to the ocean, the beauty of the beaches, surfing, and absorbing the peaceful rhythms he found there.

Tyler was known for his kindness and fairness, both personally and professionally. As a business owner, he treated his employees with respect and compassion. To his family, Tyler was thoughtful and caring, often surprising those he cared about with small gifts that showed how closely he paid attention to the people in his life.

Tyler also dearly loved his two Shetland sheepdogs, who were constant companions and brought him great joy.

Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, John and Cora (Garcia) Teters of Canyon, Texas; his sister, Tiffany Holbrook and her husband Clayton of Fort Worth, Texas; nephews Calvin and Thomas Holbrook; grandmother Celia Reddinger of Hereford, Texas; aunt and uncle Lorie and Rocky Thomson of Farmington, New Mexico; and cousins Camille and Jared Thomson, Chuck Allemand and Karen Dominguez.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Gene and Lores Teters, grandfather Facundo Garcia and his aunt and uncle Carmen and Charlie Allemand.

A Celebration of Life Service honoring Tyler and his grandmother, Lores Teters, will be held Friday, March 27, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Hereford Church of the Nazarene in Hereford with Pastor Ted Taylor officiating. Burial of cremains will follow at West Park Cemetery under the personal care and direction of Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home.
