Tomas Lamas, 65, a lifelong resident of Hereford, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023, in Amarillo, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Ricardo Zanetti officiating. Arrangements and Cremation Services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford. A viewing and visitation will be on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, from 3:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home with a Rosary beginning at 6:00 P.M.

Tomas was born in Hereford, Texas to Emiliano and Octavia (Hernandez) Lamas. He worked in the fields, for Enrique Garcia's Cement Construction Company, and A-Z Tire Shop.

Tomas enjoyed his time spent with family cooking out, his liter of coke, being outdoors, and going camping and fishing. He was a simple man who loved his family and grandchildren dearly and had a special nickname for each grandchild. Tomas also loved to tease and joke around with others and those who knew him best knew they, "better recognize."

Those left carry on his legacy are his children, Anita Barrientos and husband Armando of Hereford, Texas, Monica Lamas of Hereford, Texas, Yvonne Hinojosa of Dimmitt, Texas, and Leroy Lamas of Hereford, Texas; eighteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother Estevan Lamas and wife Sylvia of Houston, Texas; and sisters, Nelda Garza and husband Ruben of Kansas and Juanita Guerrero of Kansas.

He is preceded in death by his Parents Emiliano and Octavia Lamas, brothers Moyces Lamas, Adan Lamas, and Santos Lamas, and sisters, Maria Porras and Antonia Vargas.
