Terry Lynn Hardy, 78, of Hereford, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on September 6, 2026

Terry was born on July 9, 1948, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Ewell Hardy and Edith Hardy Bloxom. He graduated from Shamrock High School in May 1966 and went on to graduate from Gradwohl School of Laboratory Technique in 1968. In 1973, he graduated from the United States Air Force Supply School and proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1973 to 1975.

On May 25, 1982, Terry married the love of his life, Jeanette Hardy. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, faith, and countless memories. Terry loved spending time with Jeanette and considered his family one of the greatest blessings of his life.

Terry was a cowboy at heart and was best known for his love of hauling cows. From 1975 until 2020, he proudly drove a truck, a career that took him across the roads and allowed him to do what he loved. After retiring from bull hauling, Terry continued sharing his knowledge and passion for the industry. From 2020 until 2025, he served as a Truck Driving Instructor at Hinkson Memorial Amarillo College in Hereford, Texas. Even after retiring from instructing, Terry had planned to return to hauling cows—because for Terry, driving a truck was never simply a job; it was a way of life.

Above all else, Terry loved the Lord. His faith was an important part of who he was, and he never hesitated to tell others about the Lord and the blessings he had received. Terry loved listening to music and faith sessions, attending the Southwest Believers Convention, and spending time learning and growing in his faith. He often considered himself blessed beyond measure, and he lived his life with a grateful heart.

Terry’s greatest joy, however, was his family. He especially treasured his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought tremendous happiness to his life. He loved watching his family grow and making memories with those he loved. His family will forever remember his love, his stories, his faith, and the way he made them feel loved and blessed.

Terry is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Jeanette Hardy; his daughter, Terra Lara, and son-in-law, Jasson Lara; grandchildren, Josalynn Nikkel and husband Ryan, Pacen Lara and wife Paloma, and Noah Lara; and great-grandchildren, Jaxon Nikkel, Carlee Lara, Baker Nikkel, and Gabriel Lara. He also left behind his dog, Ellie.

He is survived by his siblings, Ronald J. Roberts and wife Ana, Roy Simms, Kent Simpson, Dieta Hardin and husband Mark, and Brenda Tiemann and husband Donny; sisters-in-law Paula Lee and Debbie Lee; nieces Amber Roach, Ashley Lee, Katy, and Mickayla; and nephews Patrick Lee, Cody Roach, Kesto Simpson, Cody Simpson, Travis Simpson, Shannon Simpson, Joe, Jim, Cliff, and Jimmy.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Ewell and Edith Hardy, Pat Simms; his sister, Alice Simpson; his in-laws- Louis & Darlene Lee; and his brother-in-law, Rick Lee.

Terry leaves behind a legacy of faith, hard work, devotion, and love. He was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, teacher, truck driver, and friend. He lived a life he was proud of, loved his family fiercely, and never stopped giving thanks for the blessings God had placed in his life.

He will be deeply missed, but his family finds comfort knowing that Terry loved the Lord and that his faith was firmly rooted in Him.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 9:30 am at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home in Hereford, with Pastor Scott Johnson of Pathpoint Fellowship Church officiating. Burial will be at 1:00 PM at the West Texas State Veteran Cemetery in Lubbock.

Visitation and Viewing will be on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
