Teresa Villegas, 88, longtime Hereford resident, entered the Gates of Heaven to meet her Savior and Lord on Saturday, August 21, 2021, in Hereford.

A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at 2:00 P.M., at the Hereford Nazarene Family Church, 1410 La Plata Drive, with Raul Valdez, pastor of Christian Assembly Church, officiating along with Pastor Ted Taylor, pastor of Nazarene Family Church.  Cremation services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas.  There will be no viewing.

Teresa was born on October 15, 1932, in Langtry, Texas, to Cresencio and Nieves (Padilla) Velasquez.  She fell in love and married her best friend, Enrique Villegas, on November 8, 1955, in Hereford.  Teresa was a hard worker.  In 1973, she started ironing at Sew Ann's until they shut down.  She later cleaned for Bill and Ira White at Pro Clean; she was also their Nanny.  After that, Teresa, along with her husband, started working as the "maintenance team" at Trinity Fellowship Church of which they were members until the time of their complete retirement; she was 79.  She also continued, at home, her business of ironing for several people. Through those years of ironing, she made life-long friendships. Tere loved to collect Christmas Nutcrackers, deer figurines, and also work in her garden on her array of flowers and plants which she was very proud of.  She also loved sweets of any kind and also any kind of chicken, no matter how it was fixed.  Tere also enjoyed being at all of the family gatherings; she thoroughly enjoyed them all because she loved being with her family.  To her son Victor, she was "Jefa", to her grandchildren, whom she adored, she was Grandma or Grandma Tere; she lovingly called all of her grandchildren 'mijo' and 'mija.'  Teresa or 'Tere', as most knew her, also enjoyed visiting with friends, and she was a very loyal friend, too. She was always smiling, and it was very easy to make her laugh; when she laughed, she usually cried tears of joy because she was so happy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband Enrique of 60 years in 2015; one infant daughter, Viola Villegas; an infant son Enrique and Robert; two brothers; six sisters; and her little Dachshund, Peanut, who passed away in 2020; he was her constant companion, and she dearly missed him.

Survivors left to cherish her memories are one son, Victor Villegas and wife Eva; grandchildren, Freddie Valdez and wife Lorie, Raylene Castillo and husband George, Jr., Daniela Villegas, and Mari Trevizo; great-grandchildren, Celeste Claudio, Isaiah Valdez, Haylie Valdez, her 'Beautiful Princess' ~ Abrie Castillo, Aden Suarez, Michael Roberts, Addyson Suarez, Liam Castillo; great great-granddaughter Evalee Cantu, all of Hereford; two sisters, Evangelina 'Banco' Ybarra of Hereford and Juana Salas of Austin; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.  They all loved her dearly and she loved them.
