Steven Thomas Hodges of Hereford, Texas passed away Monday, November 23 ^rd , 2020.

A visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Hereford on Friday, November 27 ^th from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, November 28 ^th at First Baptist Church, Hereford.

Steve was born on March 30 ^th , 1948 in Snyder, Texas to Joel and Gerry Hodges. He was raised along with his younger sister, Betty, in Hereford, Texas.

Growing up, Steve loved sports and his athletic prowess was evident from an early age.

Steve graduated from Hereford High School in 1966 and left for the University of Houston on a football scholarship. But after his freshman year, he and the university mutually decided to end their relationship. He ended up graduating from West Texas State in 1970, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha.

On July 20, 1974, Steve married the love of his life Sharon Frisbie. Together, they welcomed three children, daughter Heather and twin boys Cody and Slade.

Steve started his career following his father into banking at Hereford State Bank, where he worked for 10+years. He then made a change to the animal health industry, where he serviced corporate feed yards all across the U.S. While Steve may have traveled a lot for work, he never missed a sporting event either the boys or Heather participated in.

Steve was President of the Another Chance house in Amarillo, a role he relished, as well as sat on many different boards. He generously gave of his time, and cooking talents, to countless other organizations. And while Steve served his community so well, it's hard to put into words who he was to those who knew and loved him.

As a father, Steve was always there for his children. While he bonded with his boys over their love of sports, he was also a "girl dad" before the term was coined. Whether it was sitting in his recliner waiting for Heather at curfew or editing her college papers over the phone and email, he was always there with sound advice. He was also the one she went to first, as he usually had a more "preferable answer" than she may get from her mother.

In 2005, when his sons Cody and Slade played football for Texas Tech University, Steve was a staple every Saturday with his elaborate tailgate, where he fed anyone and everyone who stopped by. But once the game started, he was all business and known to stand on his own somewhere in the stadium to watch. Steve was, and still is, immensely proud of his boys, not for who they were on the field, but for the men they became off the field.

Steve was many things to many people, a wonderful husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, friend, and boss. He even had the nicknames to go with it. He was known as "Hereford" to his college roommate Larry Gatlin, who he in-turn referred to as "The Riddler." At West Texas, he was known to his comrades as "Sweet Lou" and not afraid to rock a purple three piece suit with white patent leather shoes. Later in life, he became "Steve-O" to all his children's friends. But the nickname he loved the most and role he flourished in was that of "Bebo." The name his grandson, Knox, coined him when he couldn't say Steve-O.

Bebo, was Steve Hodges in his purest form. He was an excellent grandfather and never ceased to go above and beyond to show his grandchildren how much he loved them. Sometimes, that meant a five hour drive to a little league t-ball game, where he would turn around and drive back after. Another time, it was a trip to the beach, where much to their delight, he traded in the starched jeans and shirts he always wore, for shorts and a Hawaiian shirt and lived his best life. Bebo was the one his granddaughter went to for dollar bills, at any and every concession stand. He was strong, stable, and usually the quiet presence all these little people knew was always in their corner…and always had cash.

In 2012, Steve decided to retire from the animal health industry after thirty-two years…so he purchased the local cleaners, as one does when they want to retire, and began working MORE hours than he did before retirement. But in true Steve fashion, he never did anything half way and he loved owning White Face Cleaners. If you were are a customer, it would be no surprise to see Steve personally pick up your dry cleaning AND deliver it to your closet (free of charge) and then write you a hand written note on your invoice.

Steve was the epitome of a "servant's heart." He embodied it. He lived it. This was a true reflection of his faith and demonstrated how important a personal relationship with Christ became to him. Of all the things Steve did for, and gave his family, his greatest gift was in 2013. One Sunday, he stood up in church, and made the humbling walk of a man in his 60's, down the aisle to rededicate his life to Christ. He was then officially "re-baptised" a few weeks later. To those of us who loved him so, this is the Truth that we cling to…that while we will miss him, this is not "goodbye" but a "see ya later."

Steve was preceded in death by his parents Joel and Gerry Hodges.

He is survived by his wife Sharon, daughter Heather Wainscott and husband Brad of Prosper, TX. son Cody Hodges and wife Christy of Rockwall, TX, and son Slade Hodges and wife Lindsey, of Wichita Falls, Tx; seven grandchildren, Ledger Wainscott, Marlowe, Maren and Milly Kate Hodges, and Knox, Briggs, and Ellis Hodges, and sister Betty Hodges and her husband Steve Adcock of Overland Park, Kansas.

Honorary Pallbearers are Butch White, Don Clements, Don Cumpton, Joe Perrin, and Danny Harshey.

Pallbeareres include: Kris Bridwell, James Tate, Brice Foster, Pete Vargas, Stephen Cloud, Chayse Rives, and Knox Hodges.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Ronald McDonald House of Amarillo or Another Chance House of Amarillo.
