Socorro Casas De Escobedo, age 90, a cherished and longtime resident of Hereford, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 23, 2026, in Hereford, surrounded by her loving family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 2:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church, with Celebrant Shane Weick officiating. Following the service, burial will take place at St. Anthony's Cemetery. Arrangements and services are under the compassionate care of Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas.

Family and friends may pay their respects during the viewing, which will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home, with a rosary service beginning at 6:00 PM.

Born on April 25, 1935, in Durango, Mexico, Socorro was the beloved daughter of Jose and Francisca (Alcoser) Casas. She made Hereford her home for the past 50 years, where she worked as a housekeeper for many local residents, served as a farm laborer, and cooked at Leo's Café. Among her many roles, she especially treasured babysitting her nephews.

Socorro was a devoted member of San Jose Catholic Church. She found joy in dancing, listening to music—especially Mariachi—watching her favorite novelas, tending to her beautiful garden, cooking, and cherishing time with her loyal German shepherd, Luca, and her family. Family was first and foremost to Socorro's life; she held them close to her heart, particularly her nephew Jacob, whom she lovingly called "her baby." Her presence, laughter, and radiant smile will be deeply missed by all who knew and love her.

She is survived by her sister, Ernestine Estrada of Hereford; nephews Jaime Estrada and his wife Gabriela of Lubbock, Jacob Estrada and his wife Gabriela of New York, Miguel Casas and José Manuel Casas, Jr. both of Amarillo, Rafael Flores and Uriel Flores both of Hereford, and Raul Rojas Casas, Armando Rojas Casas, Arturo Rojas Casas, and Alfredo Rojas Casas all of Juarez, Mexico; nieces Esther Casas Rojas and Alicia Casas Rojas, both of Juarez, Mexico; and her great-niece and nephew, Belen Estrada and Israel Estrada, both of Lubbock.

Socorro was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Francisca Casas; her husband, Fuljencio Escobedo; and her nephew, Moses Casas.

Socorro fue precedida en la muerte por sus padres, José y Francisca Casas; su marido, Fuljencio Escobedo; y su sobrino, Moses Casas.
