Sam Curtsinger, 77, a lifelong Hereford resident passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025, at his home. Family and friend visitation will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas, from 6:00-7:00 PM. Private family services will take place later this week. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home.

Sam was born on January 19, 1948, in Hereford, Texas, to O.C. and Lola (Holman) Curtsinger. Sam attended and graduated from Hereford High School in 1966. He was a true Herd athlete and all time #1 Herd avid fan. Sam later attended and graduated with his bachelor's degree in business from West Texas State University. He met and married the love of his life, Rhonda McCarver in 2002, in Hereford; together they had a wonderful life and a beautiful family. Sam was a pioneer in agricultural technology, writing and creating software programs for the cattle industry. Sam was employed with HISD for 18 years in their technology department, establishing and laying the foundation for HISD's website up until his retirement in 2020. Sam attended every Hereford football game from pretty much his birth up until 2010, and if he was not present, he listened intently on his headphones. He and his father kept the Herd football score from the 1930's up until 2024, season. Sam not only kept Hereford football scores but baseball, softball and volleyball as well. Sam had many attributes and hobbies, but his passion was his family, Hereford athletics and collecting rocks and minerals from around the world. Sam's presence, smile and laughter will be missed by all those who loved him dearly.

Those that are dear to him to cherish and treasure his memories are his wife, Rhonda Curtsinger of Hereford, his children, Leslie Wagner of Amarillo, and Joshua Huey of Enid, OK.; two grandchildren, Tyler Hunt and Brenna Castro both of Amarillo; his sister Joyce Powell and her husband Tom of Mesquite, Texas; his nephew, Clinton McCarver and his wife Jennifer and a great niece, Madelyn all of Lincoln, Arkansas.

Sam is preceded in death by his parents, and his son, Jacob Huey.
