Rudy Padilla, 69, of Amarillo, Texas formerly of Hereford, Texas passed away Monday, November 2, 2020 in Amarillo. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, November 9, 2020 at 2:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church with Celebrant Nestor Lara. Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be Sunday, November 8, 2020 from 3:00 – 8:00 PM with rosary at 6:00 PM. A mask must be worn at the viewing, rosary and the funeral services provided by you. Your safety and health matter to us.

Rudy was born July 16, 1951 in Amarillo, Texas to Carlos and Antonia (Pacheco) Padilla. Rudy grew up in Hereford and graduated from Hereford High School. He was a USA Army Veteran, enlisting in the army in 1975.  He later moved to Amarillo and has been a resident of Amarillo for over 40 years. He worked for Pantex and Bell Helicopter for several years. While in Hereford, he was a member of San Jose Catholic Church. Rudy loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren were his world and his joy. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and loved listening to his Tejano music, his favorites were Little Joe and Johnny Hernandez. Rudy was always the "Big Jokester" and had the biggest, warm, golden, heart and personality. He loved his two best fur companions, Macy and Chica.

Those left to cherish his memories are his children, Consuelo Quintana and her husband Christopher, Sophia Galvan and her husband Robert and Sonya Padilla all of Amarillo and Carlos Padilla of Lubbock; mother of his children, Helen Padilla of Amarillo; his siblings, Michael Padilla and his wife Lupe of Hereford, Gloria Hernandez and Manuel Romero both of Amarillo, Vera Elevario and her husband Albert of Santa Rosa, N.M., and Joseph Chavez and his wife Patricia of Arizona; 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

Rudy is joining his grandparents and his parents in heaven.
