Ruben Contreras, 60, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022, in Hereford, surrounded by his loving family. A Vigil Service will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 6:30 P.M. at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home, led by the San Jose Catholic Church Acts Group. Arrangements and Cremation Services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home.

Ruben was born on July 17, 1962, in Shelby, Michigan, to Refugio Jr. and Elva (Villarreal) Contreras. He is a longtime Hereford resident and a San Jose Catholic Church member. Ruben married Carol (Aguilera) Contreras on February 21, 1989, in Hereford. Ruben worked as a Truck Driver for over forty years; he worked for CR Trucking and Double EE Trucking. Ruben enjoyed barbequing, listening to music, and loved spending time with his family and grandkids. He was funny, caring, and had a servant's heart. Ruben looked after others and always put them first.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Carol Contreras of Hereford, Texas; children, Rolando Contreras and his wife Imelda of Hereford, Texas, and Ruby Contreras and her husband Antonio Enriquez of Hereford, Texas; grandchildren, Noah Seth Enriquez and Roland Henry Contreras; sisters, Olga Gonzalez and her husband Jesse of McAllen, Texas, Gloria Contreras of Mission, Texas, Alicia Solis and her husband Ismael of Nebraska, Corina Skidmore and her husband Billy Joe of Mission, Texas, and Criselda Venegas and her husband Casey of Alton, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Refugio Jr. and Elva Contreras; three brothers, Ricardo Contreras, Apolonio Contreras, and Rene Contreras Sr.; and a sister, Antonia Anzaldua.
