Rosa G. Garcia, 92, of Hereford passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018 in Hereford. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church of Hereford at 2:00 PM with Celebrant Rev. Anthony Neusch, burial to follow at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford. Rosary will be Tuesday evening at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Rosa was born October 7, 1925 in Powell, Wyoming to Pedro and Clarita Garcia. Rosa has been a resident of Hereford since 1947. She was married to Frank S. Garcia for 70 years. Rosa was the first female and the first Hispanic to be the radio announcer for KPAN back in the early 50's. She and her husband owned and operated a dance hall in Hereford named "Salon Garcia" in the late 50's. Rosa received "Mother of the Year" award in 2012. She was a very dedicated member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Rosa was a "fashionista" and always wanted to look her best, she loved taking care of her grandchildren and loved her family deeply.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Herald Garcia and his wife Betty of Chicago, Illinois, Mary Christine Torres, Bernice Bates and her husband Billy and Elaine Celaya and her husband Nick all of Hereford, Brenda Espinosa and her husband Mike of Dallas, Clara Beth Hernandez and her husband Juan of Playa de Carmen, Mexico, a special caretaker, Judy Montez and her very special dog, Solovino Garcia Torres, 28 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren.

Rosa is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank S. Garcia, 2 sons, Eugene Rosendo Garcia and Eugene Adan Garcia, 3 brothers, Ernesto Grego, Luis Grego and Julian Garcia, 2 sisters, Emma Estrada and Dorita Garcia, a grandson, Michael Garcia and 2 great grandchildren, Callista Rose and Catherine.
