Roger Williams, 85, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025, in Amarillo, Texas.

Roger was born on October 27, 1939, in Pampa, Texas, to Clarence and Jesselyn (Hodges) Williams. He graduated from Panhandle High School in 1958, throughout his school years he participated in football, basketball, and track. Roger continued his education at West Texas State, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree and met the love of his life (Judy Paslay) while on a double date. Roger and Judy were married on August 21, 1964, and recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.

Roger moved to Hereford in February of 1965 to farm. He loved farming and shared that love and hard work ethic with Judy and their three children. Roger served as a board member of Hereford State Bank and of Hereford Grain for many years. He was an active member of the First Methodist Church of Hereford and the Seekers Sunday school class; he faithfully served his church as treasurer and on many committees.

Roger loved attending and watching all his kids' sporting events and was eager to give them encouragement or instruction on how to improve. He also enjoyed watching his grandkids' games on TV and online. He was a true Texas football fan, faithfully keeping up with Texas high school athletes, studying the Texas football magazine, and cheering on his favorite college team, SMU.  He loved football, country music, and especially his family and grandkids.

Roger was an honorable Christian man, who was a man of his word, loyal, humble, and had an enormous giving heart.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 61 years, Judy Williams of Hereford, Texas; children, Lisa McEntyre and her husband Mike of Amarillo, Texas, Kim Hacker and her husband Stefan of Grove, Oklahoma, and Christopher Williams of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren, Abby Hacker, Hank Hacker and fiancé Taylor Anderson, Hagen Hacker, Joshua Osburn, Annie Kate Whitaker, and Machelle Osburn; three great grandchildren, Kaycie Whitaker, Wesely Whitaker, and Donovan Osburn; four sisters, Robin Cummings of Austin, Texas, Kay Martin, Brenda Hofmann, and Sheila Bulla all of Amarillo, Texas; sister-in-law Sue Daw; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Jesselyn Williams, and brothers-in-law Gary Cummings, Fred Hofmann, and Lewis Martin, father-in-law and mother-in-law Glean and Rosetta Paslay, and sister-in-law Katie Paslay.

A Celebration of Life Service honoring Roger will be on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the First Methodist Church in Hereford, with Pastor Braden Ryan officiating. Family and Friend visitation will be on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas.
