Robert "Bob" Scroggs, Jr., 76, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026, in Odessa. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. No services have been scheduled at this time.

Bob was born on April 1, 1950, in Gastonia, North Carolina, to Robert Delton Scroggs, Sr. and Mildred Edith (Cumming) Scroggs. He grew up in El Paso, Texas, and graduated from Andress High School in May 1968.

Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army at Ft. Bliss in El Paso and served from August 1968 until May 1971.

In 1977, Bob began working for the sheriff's office in El Paso. Five years later, he joined the Odessa Police Department, where he served the Odessa community until his retirement on September 30, 2008.

On April 19, 1985, he married the love of his life, Debra Ann Whitson, and together they built a wonderful life. They enjoyed camping, shooting at the range, carpentry, reading, and spending time with their beloved four-legged fur babies.

Bob's presence, smile, and laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His wife, Debra Whitson of Odessa, Texas. His sister, Debra Lynn Lewis, and her husband, Joey, of Las Cruces, New Mexico

He is now reunited in heaven with his parents.
