Rita Cirilia Griego Flores, 76, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022, in Amarillo, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 10:30 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Celebrant Nick Gerber officiating. Burial to follow at St. Anthony Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be on Friday, May 20, 2022, from 3:00-8:00 PM with rosary at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Rita was born on September 16, 1945, in Tucumcari, N.M. to Ernesto and Dolores (Ortiz) Griego. She was raised in Hereford, Texas, and had been a resident for 20 years prior to moving to Houston, Texas, in 1964. She married the love of her life Jośe Luis Flores, on April 6, 1964, in Hereford, Texas. Rita took much pride in being a full-time mother and grandmother, raising her children and being incredibly involved with her grandchildren and attending their activities. She enjoyed family gatherings, going to the casinos with her sisters, and traveling with her daughters, sisters and cousins. Rita was always there for others, always willing to give a helping hand, a good listener with sound advice.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children Yvette Wilkins and her husband Tim of Katy, Texas, Yvonne Baisa of Henderson, Nevada, Suzette Way of Houston, Texas, a son-in-law Stephen Way of Houston, Texas, and a step-son Roland Flores of Plainview, Texas,; her mother Dolores Ortiz Griego of Hereford, Texas; her siblings Oralia Griego of Ft. Worth, Texas, Irene Guerra, and Max Griego and his wife Janie all of Hereford, Texas, Beatrice Urias and her husband Eloy of Amarillo, Texas, Ernest Griego, Jr. and Tony Griego both of Hereford, Texas, Betty Gonzalez and her husband Tom and Annabell Villegas and her husband Ralph all of Amarillo, Texas, Rosemary Villarreal and her husband Lee of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Jimmy Griego and his wife Nellie of Carter, OK; nine grandchildren Ashlin, Jordin, Kimberlin and Camerin Wilkins, Jacob and Jessica Saenz, Victoria, Lillian and Jack Way, and one great grandson Victor Saenz.

Rita is preceded in death by her father Ernesto Griego, her husband Jośe Luis Flores, four sisters Rose Carlton, Teodora Pacheco, Martha Cortez, Clara Guerreo and four brothers Joe, Bobby, Justo, and Julian Griego.
