Ricardo "Rick, Rico" Estrada, 68, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023, in Amarillo, Texas. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. at the Hereford Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Guy Walker officiating. Burial to follow at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Deacon Rick Mendez officiating under the direction of Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home with a prayer service beginning at 6:00 P.M. officiated by Pastor Sam Rando.

Rick was born on April 3, 1955, in Hereford, Texas, to Victor N. Estrada, Sr. and Juanita (Ramirez) Estrada. He graduated from Hereford High School in 1973. Rick married Velma (Sanchez) Estrada, and they shared forty-plus wonderful years together. Rick worked as a bricklayer for Gamez Masonry and then on his own. He liked baseball and football, and in his younger years, he was a great baseball player, playing third base and pitcher. Rick also enjoyed reading, cooking, and visiting the Casino with his wife. He loved spending time with his family and loved his children and wife dearly. Rick was a caring husband and, father, and protector; he was selfless, patient, and slow to anger. Rick knew the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior and committed his life to him in 1992 and again on April 22, 2023.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Velma Estrada of Hereford, Texas; son Paul Estrada of Hereford, Texas; daughter Amanda Estrada of Amarillo, Texas; siblings, Ernestina E. Ramirez and her husband Frank of Hereford, Texas, Leonel Estrada and his wife Janie of El Paso, Texas; Victor N. Estrada Jr. and his wife Josie of Dallas, Texas, Thomas R. Estrada and his wife Mary of Amarillo, Texas, Robert Estrada of Hereford, Texas, Daniel R. Estrada of Hereford, Texas, and Cecilia Hernandez and her husband Juan of Lubbock, Texas; mother-in-law Elvira Sanchez of Austin, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Victor Sr., and Juanita Estrada, and a nephew Victor Ismael Estrada.
