Rex Wayne Easterwood, 88, a longtime resident of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, in Amarillo, Texas. Memorial services will be on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Hereford at 2:00 PM with Pastor Sam White of Fellowship of Believers officiating. Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas.

Rex was born on August 14, 1936, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Lorraine Gabriel Easterwood and Carl William Easterwood, Jr. He graduated from Dimmit High School in 1952, at the age of 16. He met and married the love of his life, Shirley Ann Tucker, on May 26, 1956, and together they had a beautiful life and daughter. After high school, Rex attended and graduated from West Texas State College in 1957 and later St. Mary's Law School in 1969. He was an army veteran where he was stationed at Bamberg, Germany for 2 years, and an officer in the United States Army Artillery. Rex and Shirley moved to Hereford in 1970, making Hereford their home. Rex was very active within the community, he was a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner, President of the Hereford County Club, the Hereford Chamber of Commerce and the Hereford Daycare. He was Lt. Governor of Kiwanis and President of the Kiwanis Whiteface Breakfast Club, he was a Chamber Hustler and a board member of the Harrington Cancer Center, member of the Texas Bar Grievance Committee, member of the Sweathogs at First Baptist Church and a charter member of the Fellowship of Believers.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, of 68 ½ years Shirley Tucker Easterwood of Hereford, Texas, his daughter, Cynthia Easterwood of Hereford, Texas, his grandson, Jack Eli Buckles of Murfreesboro, TN., his brother, Paul Easterwood of Houston, Texas, his sisters, Ellen Madrid, Carla Beckman and Sue Martinez all of Denver, CO., and many nieces and nephews.

Rex is preceded in death by parents, Carl Easterwood and Lorraine Kimrey, his stepmother, Bernadine Easterwood and his brother, Scott Kimrey.
