Reverend Alfred Sanders, 66, a longtime Hereford resident passed away Thursday, July 9, 2020 in Hereford, Texas. Celebration of Life Services will be Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Dimmitt, Texas with Pastor Donnell Sanders officiating, burial will follow at Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Dimmitt, Texas. Services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be Monday beginning at 1:30 PM – 5:00 PM and on Tuesday from 10:00 AM-8:00 PM at the funeral home. Due to the COVID-19 virus everyone that attends the funeral service in Dimmitt will have to wear a mask provided by you.

Alfred was born October 7, 1953 in Lockhart, Texas to William, Sr. and Verdell (Farmer) Sanders. Alfred graduated from Hereford High School and shortly there after enlisted in the United States Army. He lived and pastored for several years in Amarillo. He moved back to Hereford in 1994 and pastored at Sonrise Baptist Church and pastored in Dimmitt as well. Alfred was always willing to help in the community; he visited nursing homes in Hereford and Amarillo, playing the piano that he taught himself to play; and those less fortunate who were not able to attend church ministering to them as well. Alfred married many couples, including his son and daughter-in-law. He was a devoted Christian who loved his Lord and Savior. Alfred worked and retired from the City of Hereford. He owned and operated, "Well Done Lawn Service" since 2014. His greatest love was his family and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching them in all their sporting activities and instilled in them the value of a dollar and work ethics. Alfred was a hard-working, devoted Christian, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.

Those left to cherish his memories are his children Brandon Sanders and his wife Alicia, Eboni Sanders, and Courtney Perry all of Amarillo; his siblings Garrison Sanders of Seattle, WA., Virginia Bossett of Tulsa, OK., Joyce Thomas and her husband Roy of Dimmitt, TX., Frances Bossett of Amarillo, TX., Gussie Willis and her husband Wayne of California, Darlene Sanders of Odessa, TX., Roden Sanders and his wife Diana of Seattle, WA., Larry Sanders of Dallas, TX., Julius Sanders of Odessa, TX., and Stacey Sanders and her husband Donnell of San Antonio, TX., 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Alfred is preceded in death by his parents and one brother William Sanders, Jr.
