Rene Ramirez, 80, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on August 28, 2023, in Amarillo surrounded by his loving family. Arrangements and Cremation Services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas.

Rene was born on February 21, 1943, in San Benito, Texas to Cipriano and San Juana Evangelista (Torrez) Ramirez. He and his family moved to Hereford, Texas in 1956, owned a small Bakery and Tortilla Business, eventually becoming one of Texas largest Hispanic owned businesses, called C. Ramirez and Sons Tortilla Factory.

Rene married the love of his life Diana Cordova in Hereford at San Jose Church November 7, 1964.  They later moved to Amarillo and started a second business in 1998; today many know it as Diana's Tamales and Burritos.

Rene enjoyed creating business opportunities for those in his life and surrounding community by providing business advice, mentorship, job opportunities, and friendship. He was always ready and willing to give a helping hand anytime a friend, family, or stranger needed it. In fact, he donated multiple semi-truck loads of gourmet products he made, to the United States Armed Forces serving overseas during the Iraq War.

Rene was a kind soul who loved to create new recipes, tell a good joke, and sing a favorite song…He will be missed.

Those left to cherish his memories are his sons, Ruben C. Ramirez of Panhandle, Texas, Rogelio R. Ramirez of Amarillo, Texas, and Rolando Ramirez of Amarillo, Texas; grandchildren, Xavier Nathan Ramirez, Mercedes Roslyn Ramirez, Rene Rueben Ramirez, Victoria Rhea Ramirez, Sara Nicole Ramirez, Alexandria Digiacobbe, Deidra Leann Dawley, Raul Rogelio Ramirez and Rosendo Cipriano Ramirez; several great- grandchildren; brother Jose Angel Ramirez and his wife Anna of Wichita, Kansas; sisters, Rosario Ramirez of Hereford, Texas, and Rose Marie Medrano of Amarillo, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his wife Diana Ramirez, two sons Cipriano Ramirez and Raul Rene Ramirez, parents Cipriano and San Juana Ramirez, two brothers Manuel Ramirez and Ramiro Ramirez, and a sister Julia Raquel Rocha.
