Raymond "Monche" Martinez, Sr. went to be in the presence of our Lord and Savior at the age of 80 in Amarillo, Texas, on Monday, January 6, 2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at St. Anthony Catholic Church at 10:00 A.M. with Father Grant Spinhirne officiating, burial will follow at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. The Martinez family will receive friends and family at Good News Church of Hereford from 6:30-8:30 P.M. on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. Funeral Services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford.

Raymond was born to his loving parents Pioquinto Martinez and Hortencia (Alvarado) Martinez in San Antonio, Texas, on July 28, 1944. Raymond was a long-time Hereford resident, he met the love of his life Esperanza Ortiz in Costilla, New Mexico. Raymond asked for her hand in marriage, and they got married on July 13, 1964, they returned to Hereford and raised a beautiful family making Hereford home. Raymond worked as a farm hand in the agriculture industry before working at Holly Sugar for 35 years, shortly after he began working for Hereford ISD as a head custodian for 10 years.

Raymond loved his children wholeheartedly and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, traveling to see them play sporting events. He was a coach for Kids Inc during his children's youth. Raymond always had a joke up his sleeve to share and a smile that was so contagious he couldn't help but share with others. Raymond loved to spend time at the casino and watching old western movies and Family Feud. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and Texas Rangers fan.

His loving spirit will be carried on by his loving wife of 61 years of marriage Esperanza Martinez of Hereford, Texas; his children, Raymond Martinez, Jr., and his wife Kippi of Friona, Texas, Robert Martinez of Bardstown, Kentucky, Brenda Bice of Hereford, Texas, Patricia Sheen and her husband Eric of Amarillo, Texas; his grandchildren, Tyler Martinez, Austin Martinez and Kelly Cook, Gabe Martinez and wife Maggie, Anderson Sheen and Brady Bice; his great-grandchildren, Cane Steward Martinez, Tate Martinez; his siblings, Richard Martinez, Ray Martinez and wife Linda, Roy Martinez, Ralph Martinez and wife Melissa all of Hereford, Texas.

Those preceding him in passing are his parents, Pioquinto and Hortencia Martinez; his brother, Rudy Martinez; his grandson Zack Martinez.
