Raymond Q. Casarez, Jr., 74, a lifelong resident of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023, in Hereford, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 2:00 PM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Celebrant Grant Spinhirne officiating. Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 1:00-8:00 PM and rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Raymond was born on May 7, 1949, in Ballinger, Texas, to Ramon and Julia (Quirino) Casarez. Raymond has been a lifelong resident of Hereford. He graduated from Hereford High School in 1967. Raymond enjoyed and coached boxing in Hereford from 1979-1990. He was a "Jack of all trades", a carpenter, an electrician, and good at everything his hands touched, his children state, "there wasn't anything he couldn't do", he even taught his daughter how to sheet rock. Raymond taught us all that it is better to listen with your whole heart than speak. He was the most caring, understanding, and non-judgmental person always ready for an in-depth dialogue on any topic of interest. As unique an intellect that you could ever hope to meet. He will be missed by all who knew him. He loved his children, each of them had some of the best, each had different seasons with him. He loved his grandchildren, teaching them some very good life lessons about being patient, kind, generous, a good listener and hard working. Raymond's presence, smile and jokes will be missed by many. Raymond was the coordinator for the Alcohol Anonymous program in Hereford, Texas, for 11 years. He assisted, advised, befriended, and encouraged many at "AA", all the while never excepting, or anticipating any kind of recognition for his generous and kind heart.

Those left to cherish his memories are his children, Raymond Casarez III and his wife Ruby of Hereford, Texas, Arnulfo Casarez and his wife Kylie Thompson of Amarillo, Texas, Udele Mungia and her husband Julian of Hereford, Texas, and Raquel Chaparro of Riesel, Texas; 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; the mother of his children Arnulfo and Raquel, Angie Villarreal of Hereford, Texas, niece, Dawn Michelle Casarez of Amarillo, Texas, nephew, D.J. Casarez of Albuquerque, N.M., great niece, Santana            of Amarillo, Texas, and a sister-in-law, Eva Casarez of Amarillo, Texas.

Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, the mother of his children, Raymond and Udele, Margie Gomez Casarez, and his brother, Estacio (Scotty) Casarez.
