Ramona Martinez, 77, a longtime resident of Hereford, Texas passed away Friday, November 27, 2020 in Hereford, Texas. Celebration of Life Service will be Monday, December 7, 2020 at the Hereford Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Noe Diaz at 2:00 PM, with burial to follow at West Park Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be Sunday, December 6, 2020 from 1:00-8:00PM. A mask is required at both, the funeral service, and the viewing, provided by you. Your safety and health matter to us.

Ramona has been a longtime resident of Hereford. She was born on August 5, 1943 to Augustine and Estella (Lara) Rodriguez in Laredo, Texas. She married the love of her life Jesus H. Martinez on December 17, 1956. Ramona was a wonderful homemaker raising her 12 children and caring for her husband and later in life being an awesome grandmother to her own and many others. She taught her children amazing work ethics and always told them to work hard. She was a member of the Hereford Church of the Nazarene. Ramona enjoyed cooking tamales and many other wonderful Mexican dishes, not only for her family, but for anyone whom she felt like needed a wonderful meal during a difficult time. Ramona enjoyed all of the holidays. She would make Easter baskets for all her grandchildren. Ramona was the glue that kept her family together, she took care of her own family and her brothers and sisters when she could. She was always ready to go and enjoy life. She will be dearly missed by her family and many others.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband Jesus H. Martinez of Hereford, five sons, Jessie Martinez and his wife Dalia, Alonzo Martinez and his wife Mari, Arturo Martinez and his wife Debra, Adalfo Martinez and his wife Terri and Antonio Martinez and his wife DeeDee all of Hereford; five daughters, Jeannie Escobal and her husband Oscar and Elisa Martinez and her husband Cornelio all of Hereford, Gloria Garcia and her husband George and Lupe Martinez all of Amarillo and Lidia Olvera and her husband Joe of Hereford; a brother, Juan Joe Rodriguez and his wife Diana from Laredo, Texas and three sisters, Maria Casiano and her husband Joe of Houston, Texas, Jesusa Zamora and her husband Domingo and Josefina Aguero and her husband Emilio, Jr. all of Laredo, Texas; 36 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren.

Ramona is joining her parents, a son, Jessie Martinez, a daughter, Virginia Martinez, a grandson, Andrew James Martinez, twin brothers, Marcelino and Jose Rodriguez, brother Augustine Rodriguez, Jr., and brother Gilberto Rodriguez.
