Patsy Ruth Hampton, 97, of Hereford, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at West Park Cemetery in Hereford, with Dr. Nathan Adams officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be held Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Patsy was born in Hereford on August 12, 1928, to Thomas and Grace Sanders. She attended Hereford High School and graduated with the Class of 1946, where she especially loved singing and was often recognized for her talent.

Growing up in Hereford, Patsy worked at her father's diner on Main Street—an experience she always remembered fondly, often recalling waiting on young military men home from the war. She later worked in a drapery shop, where she enjoyed making clothing and drapes and expressing her creativity through fabric and design.

She married and had two children, Cathy Lynn and Richard Jeffrey. Later in life, Patsy worked for South West Public Services for many years before retiring, cherishing the friendships and memories she made during her career.

Patsy truly relished her retirement years. She enjoyed painting and expressing her artistic side. She had a lifelong fondness for elephants and a soft place in her heart for cats. An avid reader, she also loved playing bingo and Phase Ten. Patsy delighted in cooking and baking for her family's Sunday suppers and holidays and never hesitated to feed hungry teenagers who walked from high school to her home for lunch. She was especially known for her homemade bread.

She was a devoted ticket holder to Friday night football games in Hereford for many years and never missed an opportunity to attend a junior rodeo. Patsy dearly enjoyed her grandchildren and was always their greatest cheerleader. She was also a longtime supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause very dear to her heart.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Grace Sanders; her brother, Charles Sanders; her daughter, Cathy (Hampton) Northcutt; her son, Jeffrey Hampton; and her nephew, Steve Sanders.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Amy Stover and husband Quentin; her grandsons, Matthew Northcutt, Jason Hampton, and Dustin Hampton; three great-grandchildren, Bently Hampton (16), Grant Northcutt (8), and Barrett Northcutt (5); her son-in-law, Jake Northcutt; and her daughter-in-law, Debbie Hampton.
