Nena Romero, 54, of Hereford, Texas passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2020 in Amarillo. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, February 10, 2020 at 10:00AM in the Mendez & Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Ernest Cantu officiating. Burial will follow in West Park Cemetery under the care of Mendez & Mullins Family Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00PM – 8:00PM on Sunday, February 9, 2020.
Nena (Martinez) Romero was born June 14, 1965 in Sabinas Hidalgo, Nuevo León Mexico to Lazaro Martinez Hipolito and Emilia (Espinoza) Martinez. Nena has lived in Hereford for 39 years and graduated from Hereford High School in 1984. She then attended Amarillo College for 2 years. Nena was employed with Walmart and started with them on opening day nearly 15 years ago. Nena married Amilcar Romero on May 27, 2018 in Las Vegas. Nena loved to travel and visit many different areas of the world and being next to the ocean. Her last vacation was in September where she and her family traveled to Rome. She loved to take photos and capturing those special memories. You always knew that if she had a camera in her hands you were going to get your picture taken. Also, she enjoyed dancing whenever she found the spare time. But most of all she loved being with her family along with her fur babies, Chunkerz and Gizmo which she cared for deeply.
Nena is survived by her husband, Amilcar Romero of Hereford, TX, daughter, Yesenia Hernandez of San Antonio, TX, mother, Emilia Martinez, grandchildren, Jazmyn Hernandez and Gabriella Hernandez, siblings, Coco Tarango, Rosa Chabera, Toño Martinez, Tino Martinez, Tere Aguillon, Armando Martinez, Juan Martinez and Betty Cano.
She is preceded in death by her father, Lazaro Martinez Hipolito and brother, Mario Martinez
