Monserrath "Charrate" Cervantes, 79, of Hereford passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017 in Hereford.

"Charrate" was born in Mexico on November 29, 1937 to Ijinio and Elvira (Rodriguez) Cervantes. He married Soledad "Chole" Dominguez Cervantes on January 21, 1963. He has been a resident of Hereford for 22 years. He was a farmer most of his life. He was a member of La Iglesia de San Jose. "Charrate" was a quiet man but always showed in his actions the love he had for his wife, children and especially his grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed being outdoors, either working in his yard or planting his garden. He was a hardworking man. He fought his illness to the very end and his family states that he never complained, he was a very selfless gentle soul and gentleman.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Soledad "Chole" Cervantes of Hereford, five sons, Jaime Cervantes, Rodrigo Cervantes, Oscar Cervantes, Sergio Cervantes and Abel Cervantes all of Hereford and two daughters, Brenda Macias of Hereford and Dora Rodriguez of Colorado; two brothers, Adan and Ismael Cervantes of Mexico and one sister Otilia Cervantes of Mexico; 21 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
