Minnie Cates Combs, 79, of Hereford, Texas passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2019 in Hereford, Texas. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lorenzo Martinez officiating. Burial will follow at West Park Cemetery in Hereford, Texas. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will begin at 1:30-8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Minnie was born August 11, 1940 in Cement, Oklahoma to Grady Jefferson and Hattie (Boswell) Cates. Minnie was a resident of the Westway and Hereford Community for approximately 70 years. She married Clifton Combs on September 22, 1959. She moved from the Westway Community into Hereford in 1980. She was a member of the Westway Baptist Church and also taught Sunday school, she loved attending church when she could. Minnie enjoyed working in her yard, pulling weeds and tending to her flowers; she enjoyed dancing, playing cards or dominoes, raising pigs, being a great storyteller, eating watermelon, going for walks and finding money, and when she did find a penny that would make her day. Minnie was a hard worker, Christian, a full-hearted caretaker for her sisters and her family. She enjoyed decorating for Christmas, but her greatest love was her family and being a grandmother.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children Clifton Dewain Combs of Hereford, Texas, Sammie Don Combs and his wife Doris of Wills Point, Texas, CeCe Combs of Hereford, Texas and DeDe Elliott of Hereford, Texas; four sisters Mary Ann Fivecoat and her husband Bill of Meridian, Idaho, Mildred Shirey of Grand Prairie, Texas, Shirley Buck and Geneva Estep both of Hereford, Texas; twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Minnie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clifton Combs, three brothers Jim, Sammie and Buddy Cates and two sisters Hattie Faye Dodson and Dorothy Perez.
