Melissa Yvonne Mungia, 36, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Victory Family Worship Center in Hereford on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 11:00 am with Tim Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow at West Park Cemetery under the direction of Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford. A family and friend visitation will be on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 3:00 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home with a prayer service beginning at 6:00 pm.

Melissa was born on June 7, 1989, in Hereford to Robert Jr. and Noemie (DeLeon) Mungia. She graduated from Hereford High School in 2007. Melissa was working towards her associate's degree in business at Amarillo College; this coming August, she would have begun her last semester. Melissa worked for Hereford ISD as a paraprofessional, for Purina as a production operator, and most recently, for Panhandle Milling as a packaging operator. She was a member of Victory Family Church.

Melissa enjoyed watching movies with her daughters, date nights with Tony and her girls, and going out to dinner. Melissa liked going to the lake to camp, swim, and go kayaking. She loved spending time with her parents and family. Melissa loved the Holidays, the shopping, decorating, and cooking; she made every holiday and birthday incredibly special for her daughters and everyone else in the family. Melissa was funny, sweet, full of joy, respectful, and loved unconditionally. She will be missed dearly.

Those left to cherish her memories are her three beautiful daughters, Bailey Janae Gavina, Madison Ranae Gavina, and Kenzey Marie Martinez of Hereford, TX; loving parents, Robert Jr. and Noemie Mungia of Hereford, TX; sister Michelle Castillo of Hereford, TX; brothers Julian Mungia and wife Udele of Hereford, TX, and Rocky Mungia and husband Mark Loposky of Pheonix, AZ; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; and boyfriend Antonio "Toni" Martinez of Hereford.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert Sr. and Modesta Mungia, and Eugenio and Antonia De Leon, her brother-in-law, Gilbert Castillo, her niece, Alyssa Castillo, and her nephew, Luis Aguilar.
