Melida Pacheco, 69, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022, in Amarillo, Texas surrounded by her loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, October 21, 2022, at 1:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church with Celebrant David Contreras officiating. Burial to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Rosary will be recited on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Melida was born on November 11, 1952, in Elsa, Texas, to Onesimo and Petra (Leal) Garza. She has been a resident of Hereford most of her life. Melida married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life on December 15, 1973, in Hereford. She pursued many job endeavors from working for Furr's Grocery Store, H&R Manufacturing, Hereford Regional Medical Center, owning her own beauty shop, Child Protective Services, driving for Panhandle Transit and to present, she and George owning and operating Pit Stop Liquor in Hereford, Texas. Melida believed in getting up every morning and being dressed to the nines, she was a woman of class, fashion, and elegance. She enjoyed taking care of her flowers, yellow roses being her favorite, camping, decorating for all the holidays, not only her home, but her business as well; shopping, spending time with her lifelong friends, traveling, but dearest to her heart was her family and spending time with her grandchildren and always attending her children and grandchildren's activities. Melida was dearly loved and will be missed by many.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband George Pacheco of Hereford, Texas; her children Patricia Barnes and her husband Vincient of Hereford, Texas, George Pacheco, Jr. and his wife Brandy of Amarillo, Texas, and Pamela Pacheco and her husband Pedro Sanchez, Jr. of Hereford, Texas; her sister Olga Garza of Canyon, Texas; nine grandchildren Kaela Barnes-Smith, Brandi Barnes, Vincient Barnes, Jr., Jonathan Barnes, Cielo Sanchez, Elijah Sanchez, Kiera Torres, Kayleen Torres and Jeremiah Sanchez; four great grandchildren Nathaniel Barnes, Hailey Barnes, Jerri Barnes and Denzel Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Melida is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Gilbert Garza and two sisters Yolanda Gomez and Rebecca Ramirez.
