Matilde Garcia, aged 86, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025, in Hereford. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 10:00 AM at San Jose Mision Catholic Church with Celebrant David Contreras officiating. Burial will follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from 3:00-8:00 PM with rosary at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Matilde was born on March 13, 1939, in San Pedro, Coahuila, Mexico, to Guadalupe and Eusebia (Rios) Mancha. On November 16, 1958, she married Valentin Garcia, the love of her life, and together they shared a wonderful life and raised two children. Matilde became a resident of Hereford in 1975.

Throughout her life, Matilde held various professions, including farm laborer, Avon sales representative, and caretaker. Above all, she cherished her roles as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and most importantly, she remained faithful to her Lord and Savior. Matilde was a dedicated member of San Jose Catholic Church.

She enjoyed spending her time solving word search puzzles, playing loteria, watching novelas, making delicious tamales, and savoring vanilla ice cream. Her greatest joy was her family, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

Matilde is survived by her husband, Valentin Garcia of Hereford; her daughter, Armandina Lira of Hereford; and eight grandchildren: Jose Lira (Jessica) of Odessa, Felicita Lira of Dallas, Oyuki Sosa (Luis) of Amarillo, Javier Lira, Jr. (Kimberly) of Hereford, Eduardo Garcia (Brandy) of Las Cruces, NM, Christafer Rios Garcia of San Antonio, Valentin Garcia III of Juarez, Mexico, and Esperaza Montya of Mexico City, Mexico. She is also survived by 28 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren, as well as two sisters, Tomasita Cortez of Hereford and Estella Saucedo of Brownsville.

Matilde was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Valentin Garcia, Jr.; her son-in-law, Javier Lira, Sr.; her grandson, Jesus Garcia; her granddaughter-in-law, Jessica Rios; and her siblings, Manuelita Mancha, Maria Luisa Morales, Perfecto Mancha, Francisco Mancha, and Maria (Lupe) Zuniga.
