Mary Medina, 75, of Amarillo passed away Friday, May 24, 2019 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM at New Beginning Assembly of God Church in Amarillo with Pastor Grace Ortega officiating. Graveside service to be at 2:00 PM at Dumas Cemetery in Dumas, Texas. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford. Family and friend visitation will be Monday evening from 5:00-8:00 PM at the church. Viewing will begin at 1:00 PM at the church on Monday.

Mary was born February 9, 1944 in Crowell, Texas to Luz and Ricarda (Salas) Leija. Mary has been a resident of Amarillo for 20 years, but prior to moving to Amarillo she was a resident of Tulia and Happy, Texas. She cooked for Al's Restaurant for many years in Happy, Texas. She was a member of New Beginning Assembly of God Church in Amarillo. Mary enjoyed thrift stores, garage sales, sewing, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but her greatest love was her church and the Lord. She enjoyed family reunions and had never missed one in 25 years regardless of where they were held.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Joe Medina, Jr. and his wife Tina, Timothy Medina, Audrey Galvan and her husband Nacho, Keith Medina and his wife Marissa, Josephina Dominguez and her husband Luis all of Amarillo; Rufus Medina of Hillsboro, Texas and Moses Medina of Dallas, Texas; two brothers Israel Leija of Tulia, Eloy Dan Leija and his wife Angie Tijerina of Canyon; three sisters Esther Tanguma of Porterville, CA., Abbie (Lena) Castillo and her husband Tony of Tulia, Texas and Sally Sanchez of CO.; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe A. Medina, Sr., two brothers and four sisters.
