Mary Lou Martinez, 68, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026, in Amarillo, surrounded by her loving family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 2:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Shane Wieck as celebrant. Burial will follow at West Park Cemetery in Hereford, Texas under the direction of Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home. Viewing and Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home, with the Rosary/Vigil Service beginning at 6:00 PM.

Mary Lou was born on March 9, 1958, in Hereford, Texas to Victor Martinez, Sr. and Maria (Salazar) Martinez. She attended school in Hereford. Mary Lou worked at the Hereford Cleaners and as a dietician for Kings Manor nursing home. She met her husband Pedro Morales in 1988.

Mary Lou, affectionately known as Tia Shorty, loved playing lotería and bingo, visiting casinos, listening to music, and going to dances with Pedro. She enjoyed traveling to Mexico with her friend, watching Walker Texas Ranger and novelas, and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. Above all, Mary Lou dearly loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered as funny, lovable, forgiving, trustworthy, and a cherished secret keeper to many friends and family members.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband Pedro Morales of Hereford, Texas; her four sons James Aguillon and his wife Tonya of Amarillo, Texas, Ricky Aguillon and his wife Krista of Waxahachie, Texas, Pedro Morales, Jr. and his wife Sarah Vasquez, and Adrian Morales both of Hereford, Texas; grandchildren, Elijah Johnson,  Devon Aguillon, Jo'ziah Aguillon, Fabian Rubio, Jocelyn Carreon, Jayleen Carreon, Marissa Alvarez, Alexa Pollard, Christopher Gallegos, Zayvian Morales, and Maverick Morales; great granddaughters Zimmri Johnson and Camila Ramos; and siblings, Celedonio Salazar of Arizona, Greg Martinez and his wife Estella, Irene Martinez, and Robert Martinez all of Hereford, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents Victor and Maria Martinez; brother Victor Martinez, Jr. and sister Margaret Martinez Aguilar.
