Mary P. Gamez, 82, of Hereford, Texas passed away Monday, September 9, 2019 in Amarillo, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 2:00 PM at La Iglesia de San Jose Catholic Church with celebrant Ramon Molina, burial to follow at West Park Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Prayer service and visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mary was born July 7, 1937 in Paint Rock, Texas to Hepolito and Celestina (Montalvo) Perez. Mary has been a resident of Hereford since the day she and Ismael Gamez married, January 3, 1953, moving from Menard, Texas. Mary worked at the Hereford Clinic as a receptionist for 13 years, she then went to work as the Director of the Migrant School for 4-5 years; her last place of employment before retiring was at the Texas Unemployment Office working there for 13 years, retiring in 1988. Mary enjoyed decorating her home, crocheting a little and being a perfectionist. Mary loved her grandchildren deeply and was always there to lend a helping hand to her family when in need.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband Ismael Gamez of Hereford, Texas, a daughter Gayla "Gail" Grant and her husband Roger of Lubbock, Texas; one grandson Jonathan Grant of Lubbock, Texas and three great grandchildren Jayton, Jarron and Jyson Lacy all of Lubbock, Texas and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, a son Roger Gamez, a granddaughter Tanya Lacy, a grandson-in-law Michael Lacy, a sister Guadalupe Gonzalez and a brother Frank Perez and several stepbrothers and sisters.
