Marvin Welty passed away in Dimmitt on June 10, 2026, at the age of 88. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Avenue Baptist Church with Pastor Billy Joe Wall officiating. Private Graveside Services will be held prior to service at West Park Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 4:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home

Marvin was born on November 24, 1937, in Hereford, Texas, to Woodrow and Mildred Welty. He grew up in and around Hereford, where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for the land. After graduating from Hereford High School, Marvin devoted his life to farming, a profession he embraced with pride and dedication for many years.

He was also an avid hunter, fisherman, and mechanic until his health prevented him from doing so. He, Marvin, had a memory that wouldn't quit. He loved to compete in shooting sports at Hereford gun club. He square danced for a while. Even before his death he was telling stories of things that happened in the 40's and 50's. He was a long-time member of Avenue Baptist Church.

In 1980, Marvin married Paula Killingsworth Milam. Together they shared 46 wonderful years of marriage.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and his brother R.C. Welty.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Paula Welty; his children, Geni Pickens of Moore, Oklahoma; Christi Smith and husband Terry of Amarillo, Texas; Cherri Toler of New Braunfels, Texas; Greg Welty and wife Linda of New Braunfels, Texas; and Jeff Milam and wife Brenda of Taylor, Texas.

He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Paige Townsend and husband Jesse, and their children Dillon, Lynlee, and Samuel; Joni Tversky and husband Jon, and their children Blake and wife Kylee, Blaine, Blayson, and Ella; Steven Smith and wife Angie, and their children Mazi and Brady; Bridget Toler; Kristen Delancey and husband Blake, and their children Lena and Deacon; Corbin Toler; Zach Welty; Bailey Welty and wife Allie, and their children Haven and Fletcher; Brooke Poole and husband Ethan, and their daughter Blakely; Wayne Milam and wife Amanda, and their children Kole and Gabe; and Aaron Milam and wife Ashley.
