Martin Urbanczyk, 69, of Hereford, Texas passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022, in Hereford. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hereford with Father Nick Gerber as celebrant. Burial to follow at St. Anthony Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. A visitation will be held on Monday, May 23, 2022, from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Martin Andrew Urbanczyk was born November 30, 1952, in Hereford, TX to Conrad and Aurelia Hoffman Urbanczyk.  Martin attended St. Anthony's parochial school and graduated from Hereford High School in 1971.

Growing up, Martin enjoyed playing football and spent countless hours camping and fishing with his brothers and cousins at Stengel Lake.

He enlisted in the United States Army in 1972 and became a radio relay and carrier attendant and was stationed at Fort Carson, CO and served until 1975 when he was honorably discharged as a sergeant. While in the military he married Susan Klechak.

After his service in the military, Martin returned to Hereford and began working at West Texas Rural Telephone as part of the installation and repair crew and received a 25-year service award in 2003. He continued working there until his retirement in 2008.

Martin had three children, Joshua, Jeremy and Jenna whom they raised in Hereford. Sue passed away in 1998.

He loved following his children's various sports and activities and was a Herd Supporter.

Martin had a strong faith, love of Jesus and he was not afraid to proclaim it. He attended St. Anthony's Catholic Church and the Holy Ghost Coffee Shop at the New Life Church.

In January 2000 Martin married Sam Kotara in White Deer, TX. They made their home in Hereford.  They enjoyed weekend trips and working in the yard together.

Martin is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, and daughter Jenna Urbanczyk. Sister Vicky Schmucker and brother-in-law Bob, his sister Elizabeth and brother Sidney and step grandson Travis Boles.

He is survived by his wife, Sam Urbanczyk, his dog Jack. His sons Joshua Urbanczyk and Jeremy Urbanczyk and wife Megan. Stepsons Kent Kotara and wife Lori, Daniel Kotara and wife Amy, stepdaughters Rachel Kinkaid and husband Floyd and Jill Kotara. He is also survived by his grandson Reece, granddaughters Rhianne, Ava and Emma, his step grandson Ryan Heath and step granddaughters Olivia Kinkaid and Kori Kotara. Brother Conrad "Connie" and wife Connie, sister Julie Burton and husband Greg, sister Evelyn Morrison and husband Mike and brother Bill Urbanczyk.

Martin battled numerous health issues for the past 15 years and his faith never wavered.  Donations can be made to St. Anthony's School Endowment Fund .
