Maria "Lupe" G. Zuniga, 85, of Hereford, Texas passed away Friday, January 3, 2020 in Austin, Texas. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at the Genesis Church of Hereford at 2:00 PM with Pastor Daniel Romero officiating, burial to follow at West Park Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Family and friend visitation will be Monday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Maria was born December 19, 1934 in Zaragoza Coahuilla, Mexico to Guadalupe and Eusebia (Rios) Mancha. Maria has been a resident of Hereford since 1960. She worked as a farm laborer for a short time, then worked at Edward's Laundry Mat and later worked for the Hereford Country Club; Maria was also an independent, private caregiver for many. She was a member of Genesis Church of Hereford for many years. Maria enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casinos, crocheting blankets for her children and grandchildren and she was an excellent cook. Her greatest love was having her children and grandchildren around her and she loved her independence, zipping around in her little car. Her children knew they would get that phone call from her every day; she was a devoted mother to her family and her Lord and Savior.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children Juan Antonio Medina and his wife Dominga from Ft. Meyers, FL., Porfirio Zuniga, Jr. and his wife Rosie of Harlingen, Texas, David Zuniga and his wife Annie of Hereford, Texas and Beatrice Flores and her husband Matias of Austin, Texas.; two sisters Tomasita Cortez and her husband Santos of Brady, Texas and Matilda Garcia and her husband Valentin of Hereford, Texas; ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Maria is preceded in death by her parents, her two sisters Manuelita Mancha and Maria Luisa Morales and two brothers Perfecto Mancha and Francisco Mancha.
