María Zapata, de 79 años, de Hereford, Texas, falleció el lunes 7 de octubre de 2024 en Amarillo, Texas. Los servicios funerarios de Celebración de la Vida serán el jueves 10 de octubre de 2024 a las 11:00 a.m. en la Iglesia Génesis con el pastor Rubén Coronado oficiando. El entierro se llevará a cabo en el cementerio de West Park. Los arreglos y servicios han sido confiados a la Funeraria de la Familia Méndez y Mullins de Hereford, Texas. El velatorio se llevará a cabo el miércoles 9 de octubre de 2024, de 4:00 a 8:00 p.m. en la funeraria.

María nació en San Antonio de Bravo, Chihuahua, México, hija de Manuel y Annaclequeta (Pérez) Urquizo. María se enorgullecía de criar a sus hijos, cuidar de su esposo y ayudar a criar a sus nietos y sobrinos. Le encantaba la jardinería, especialmente sus rosas, y todo tipo de frutas y verduras, criar gallinas, coser y bordar, y la favorita de sus hijos era su maravillosa cocina. A María le gustaba viajar, siempre daba consejos prácticos y nunca permitía que su idioma fuera una barrera para hacer nuevos amigos dondequiera que fuera. La presencia, la sonrisa y la risa de María serán muy extrañadas por todos los que la amaban.

Los que quedan para recordar y atesorar sus recuerdos son sus hijos, Pilar Montez y su esposo Ismael de Odessa, TX., Monce Franco de Morton, TX., Trinidad Zapata de Hereford, TX., Antonia Zapata y su esposo Miguel Rivero de Amarillo, TX., Roberto Zapata y su esposa Cindy de Hereford, TX., Gerardo Zapata y su esposa Deyna de Denver,  CO., Rene Zapata de Hereford, TX., Rubén Zapata y su esposa Berenice de Hereford, TX., y Norma Jiménez y su esposo Guadalupe de Monahans, TX.; 27 nietos, 31 bisnietos y 11 tataranietos; su hermana, Leonora Zapata y su esposo Toby de Presidio, TX., su hermano, Roman Tovar y su esposa Esher de Sunnyside, TX., y una media hermana, María de Jesús Olivas y su esposo Nati de Portales, N.M.

María se une a sus padres, su esposo, Cecilio Zapata, sus hermanos, Manuela Beltrán, Mercedes Lozano, Librida Guzmán, Luz Domínguez, Pedro Tovar, y sus medios hermanos, Antonio Martínez y Margarita Martínez, todos en el cielo.

Maria Zapata, 79, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024, in Amarillo, Texas. Celebration of Life Funeral Services will be on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Genesis Church with Pastor Ruben Coronado officiating. Burial to follow at West Park Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 4:00 -8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Maria was born in San Antonio de Bravo, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Manuel and Annaclequeta (Perez) Urquizo. Maria took much pride in raising her children, caring for her husband and helping raise her grandchildren and her nephews. She loved to garden, especially her roses, and all kinds of fruits and vegetables, raising chickens, sewing and embroidering, and her children's favorite was her wonderful cooking. Maria enjoyed traveling, always giving practical advice, and never allowing her language to be a barrier in making new friends wherever she went. Maria's presence, smile and laughter will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Those left to remember and cherish her memories are her children, Pilar Montez and her husband Ismael of Odessa, TX., Monce Franco of Morton, TX., Trinidad Zapata of Hereford, TX., Antonia Zapata and her husband Miguel Rivero of Amarillo, TX., Roberto Zapata and his wife Cindy of Hereford, TX., Gerardo Zapata and his wife Deyna of Denver, CO., Rene Zapata of Hereford, TX., Ruben Zapata and his wife Berenice of Hereford, TX., and Norma Jimenez and her husband Guadalupe of Monahans, TX.; 27 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren; her sister, Leonora Zapata and her husband Toby of Presidio, TX., her brother, Roman Tovar and his wife Esher of Sunnyside, TX., and a half sister, Maria de Jesus Olivas and her husband Nati of Portales, N.M.

Maria is joining her parents, her husband, Cecilio Zapata, his siblings, Manuela Beltran, Mercedes Lozano, Librida Guzman, Luz Dominguez, Pedro Tovar, and her half siblings, Antonio Martinez and Margarita Martinez all in heaven.
