Maria DeJesus Virrueta, 90, of Hereford, Texas, formerly of Mexico, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022, in Hereford, Texas. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Sergio Vaquera officiating. Burial to follow at West Park Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be Tuesday, February 15, 2022, from 1:00-8:00PM at the funeral home.

Maria was born June 18, 1931, in Mexico to Melquiades and Guadalupe Virrueta. Maria has been a resident of Mexico, most of her life. She was a homemaker and took much pride in raising her children and taking care of her husband. She loved listening to the word of God, praying, attending church, and listening and singing Christian music. Maria was always willing to help anyone in need. Maria was a very neat, clean, and well-kept woman. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children Esperanza Vasquez and her husband Gregorio of Clovis, NM, Susana Rivas of Fabens, Texas, Manuela Ortega and her husband Alonzo of Hereford, Texas, Magdalena Calderon and her husband Melchor of Mexico, Isabel Campos and her husband Rolando of Hereford, Texas, Leticia Ortega and her husband Miguel of Clint, Texas, Elvia Castillo and her husband Tomas and Javier Martinez and his wife Carol all of Lovington, NM., a sister Ramona Virrueta of Las Cruces, NM., 25 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Maria is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jose Martinez, a son and a daughter, and 2 sisters Maria Bautista and Maria Luisa Solis.

María es precedida en la muerte por sus padres, su esposo José Martínez, un hijo y una hija, y 2 hermanas María Bautista y María Luisa Solís.
