Maria Teresa "Mama Tere" Salcido, 88, of Hereford, Texas passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021 in Amarillo, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Ramon Molina officiating. Burial will be at a later date and time in Mexico. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home with rosary beginning at 6:30 P.M. Due to the COVID-19 virus we ask that you please wear a mask provided by you if attending mass, viewing, or rosary. Your health and safety matter to us.

Mama Tere was born on November 3, 1932 to Sabina Salcido in Guatimape, Durango, Mexico. She married Claro Lopez in Mexico; they were married for 68 years. Mama Tere worked as a homemaker and took great pride in taking care of her family. She was a mom to everybody and loved to cook for you, especially Gorditas. Mama Tere was a member of San Jose Catholic Church. She enjoyed dancing and music; her favorite song was "Mi Gusto Es" by Jose Alfredo Jiménez. She enjoyed the Mocha Frappuccino's from Mc Donald's. Mama Tere had the best smile; she was very caring and blunt with her words but honest in a good way. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Those left to cherish her memories are her daughters Toña Acosta and her husband Marcos of Hereford, TX, Jenoveva Lopez and her husband Maximino Para of Juarez, MX, Silvia Villarreal and her husband Jose Luis of Hereford, TX, Juana Lopez and her husband Jesus Gil of Chicago, IL; son Roberto Lopez and his wife Brenda of Guatimape, MX, brother Francisco Salcido of Torreon, MX, nineteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

She is preceded in death by mom Sabina Salcido, husband Claro Lopez, daughters Luz Lopez, Anita Lopez, Goya Lopez, son Jesus Lopez, and sisters Guadalupe Salcido, Beatrice Salcido, and Elena Salcido.
