Maria Tamez Rodriguez, went to her heavenly home on March 13, 2024, at the age of 85 years old. Maria was surrounded by her loving children and family. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Alonzo Garcia officiating at the Avenue Baptist Church of Hereford. A burial will follow at West Park Cemetery. A family friend visitation will be held on Monday, March 18, 2024, from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Funeral Services are entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford.

Maria was born to her loving parents, Tomas Tamez and Manuela (Vasquez) Tamez on July 4, 1938, in Linares Nuevo Leon, Mexico. She was born and raised in Mexico, where she met the love of her life Oscar G. Rodriguez. They met when she was in the third grade and eventually became best friends for eternity. Oscar asked her father for her hand in marriage and a month later he received his blessing. On November 10, 1956, they became one, together they moved to Hereford in the late 60's and raised a beautiful family.

Maria loved her husband and her children wholeheartedly, she was the foundation of her family, and her passion was watching her children and grandchildren; she instilled many life lessons in her children, and they will cherish for eternity. Maria raised all her children in the Baptist Church and was a strong Christian woman that was always ready to give to others. Maria enjoyed cooking and having her family around. She enjoyed watching her novelas and crocheting and sewing dresses for her children and blankets for newborn blessings for anyone she knew that was expecting.

Those left to carry on her loving spirit are her husband of 68 beautiful years of marriage, Oscar G. Rodriguez of Hereford, Texas; her caring children, Gilbert and his wife Nita of Dumas, Texas, Oscar Rodriguez, Richard Rodriguez and Tammy, John Rodriguez all of Amarillo, Margaret Varnell and her husband Dan of Pflugerville, Texas, Armando Rodriguez and his wife Debra of Lubbock, Texas; 32 loving grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; her siblings, Jose Angel Tamez, Vicente Tamez, Manuel Tamez, Zoila Tamez, Mary Tamez, Erendida Morales all of Mexico.

Those preceding her in passing are parents, Tomas Tamez and Manuela (Vasquez) Tamez; her siblings, Jose Tamez, Tomas Tamez, Rosa Tamez; her grandson 's, Roman R. Rodriguez and Trevor A. Rodriguez.

María Támez Rodríguez, fue a su casa celestial el 13 de marzo de 2024, a la edad de 85 años. María estaba rodeada de sus amorosos hijos y su familia. Un servicio funerario de celebración de la vida se llevará a cabo el martes 19 de marzo de 2024, a las 11:00 a.m. con el pastor Alonzo García oficiando en la Iglesia Bautista de la Avenida de Hereford. Seguirá un entierro en el cementerio de West Park. Una visita de un amigo de la familia se llevará a cabo el lunes 18 de marzo de 2024, de 5:00 a 8:00 p.m. en la funeraria. Los servicios funerarios se confían a la funeraria familiar Mendez y Mullins de Hereford.

María nació de sus amorosos padres, Tomás Tamez y Manuela (Vásquez) Tamez, el 4 de julio de 1938, en Linares, Nuevo León, México. Nació y creció en México, donde conoció al amor de su vida, Oscar G. Rodríguez. Se conocieron cuando ella estaba en tercer grado y finalmente se convirtieron en mejores amigas para toda la eternidad. Oscar le pidió a su padre su mano en matrimonio y un mes después recibió su bendición. El 10 de noviembre de 1956, se convirtieron en uno, juntos se mudaron a Hereford a finales de los años 60 y criaron una hermosa familia.

María amaba a su marido y a sus hijos de todo corazón, ella era la base de su familia, y su pasión era ver a sus hijos y nietos; inculcó muchas lecciones de vida a sus hijos, y ellos apreciarán por toda la eternidad. María crió a todos sus hijos en la Iglesia Bautista y era una mujer Cristiana fuerte que siempre estaba dispuesta a dar a los demás. A María le gustaba cocinar y tener a su familia cerca. Le gustaba ver sus novelas y hacer ganchillo y coser vestidos para sus hijos y mantas para las bendiciones de los recién nacidos para cualquier persona que supiera que estaba esperando.

Rodríguez de Hereford, Texas; sus cariñosos hijos, Gilbert y su esposa Nita de Dumas, Texas, Oscar Rodríguez, Richard Rodríguez y Tammy, John Rodríguez de Amarillo, Margaret Varnell y su esposo Dan de Pflugerville, Texas, Armando Rodríguez y su esposa Debra de Lubbock, Texas; 32 nietos amorosos; 58 bisnietos; 14 bisnietos; sus hermanos, José Angel Tamez, Vicente Tamez, Manuel Tamez, Zoila Tamez, Mary Tamez, Erendida Morales todos de México.
