Maria S. Martinez, 88, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, in Hereford, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, February 28, 2022, at 2:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church with Celebrant Ramon Molina officiating. Burial to follow at West Park Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be on Sunday, February 27, 2022, from 4:00-8:00PM, with rosary at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Maria was born May 2, 1933, in Charlotte, Texas, to Ostacio and Andrea (Gonzalez) Salazar. Maria has been a lifelong resident of Hereford, Texas. Maria took much pride in caring for her husband and raising her children and grandchildren. She was a member of San Jose Catholic Church. Maria loved to cook, her specialty recipes were her carne with squash, her famous beans, and her sweet tea. Maria enjoyed watching her novellas, watering her plants, picking her grandchildren up from school then taking them to work, going to Wal-Mart or just being able to go somewhere. Sunday was Maria's ice cream day. Maria loved her family deeply and loved being able to spend time with them and those that came to visit her. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children Mary Lou Garcia and her husband Pedro, Greg Martinez and his wife Estella, Irene Aguilar, and Robert Martinez all of Hereford, Texas, Celedono Salazar of Avondale, AZ., Consuelo Banda and Juanita Rodriguez and her husband David all of Phoenix, AZ.; a sister Catarina Correa of Phoenix, AZ., and a brother Jose Salazar of Kingman, AZ.; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Maria is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Victor Martinez, a son Victor Martinez, Jr., and a daughter Margarita Martinez and a sister Pifiñia Garcia.
