Maria DeLaLuz Garcia, 81, of Hereford, Texas passed away Sunday, April 18, 2021 in Amarillo, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at 2:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church with Celebrant Ramon Molina officiating. Burial to follow at West Park Cemetery.

Maria was born on November 16, 1939 to Lazaro and Natalia (Fuentes) Melchor in El Saucito, Coahulia, Mexico.  She married Antonio Garcia on December 14, 1958 and has been a resident of Hereford for fifty-six years. She worked in the field, was employed at the Ranch House, sold tamales, but her biggest job was being a homemaker and taking pride in caring for her husband and her children.  She was a very caring woman, she loved to care for her husband, siblings, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Maria loved her ranch, farm animals and being outdoors. She also enjoyed gardening.  She was a well-dressed lady with a love for purses and shoes to go with every outfit she had. She believed in the importance of education for her children and grandchildren since she did not have one. Maria did not know a stranger and brought many people into her home and cooked for them. She loved to sing, read her bible, and recite the rosary. Maria was the "Reina" of the family, "The Queen".

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Antonio Garcia of Hereford, her children, son Antonio Garcia, Jr. and his wife Marisol of Odessa, TX. daughter Maria Dolores Garcia and her husband Jose of Amarillo, TX. son Alfredo Garcia and his wife Delia of Hereford, TX. daughter Liz Garcia and son Oscar Manuel Garcia and his wife Lisa all of Amarillo, TX., her siblings, brother Manuel Melchor and his wife Margarita; sister Margarita Ramos and her husband Enrique all of Eagle Pass, TX., brother Juan Melchor and his wife Carmen of Pasadena, TX., brother Jesus Melchor and his wife Iza Mary of Eagle Pass, TX., sister Elida Gutierrez and her husband Andres of Midland, TX., sister Concepcion Pargas of Le Sueur, MN., sister Guadalupe Montoya and her husband Gilberto of Pasadena, TX., brother Jose Antonio Melchor and his wife Elvia of Eagle Pass, TX., and sister Rosalinda Lopez of Le Sueur, MN., 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Maria will be joining her parents and her great grandson, Antonio Garcia, V. in heaven.
