Maria Mejia de Cervantes, 50, of Hereford, Texas passed away Monday, August 26, 2019 in Hereford. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 2:00 PM at La Iglesia de San Jose Catholic Church of Hereford with Celebrant Rev. Ramon Molina officiating. Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Rosary will be Monday at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Viewing will begin on Monday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Maria was born February 11, 1969 in Durango, Mexico to Reyes Mejia and Amada Hernandez. Maria has been a resident of Hereford for 30 years. She married Jaime Cervantes in 1990. She worked for Caviness Beef Packers for 16 years. She attended La Iglesia de San Jose Catholic Church. Maria was very friendly, never meeting a stranger or someone always knowing her wherever she went. Maria enjoyed cooking for her family, some of their favorites were asado and her rice. She enjoyed traveling to Mexico to see her family, but her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren, husband and her children.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Jaime Cervantes of Hereford, two daughters Carla Ontiveros and her husband Jesus Faudoa of Friona, Texas, Irma Gutierrez and her husband Manuel of Amarillo, Texas, two sons Raul Cervantes and Uriel Cervantes bot of Hereford, Texas, Maria's mother Amada Hernandez of Mexico, four brothers Juan Mejia and Sergio Mejia and his wife Irma all of Hereford, Texas, Jose Luis Mejia and his wife Maricruz of Dimmitt, Texas and Hector Mejia and his wife Manuela of Mexico and one sister Antonia Mejia and her husband Mundo of Mexico, and six grandchildren.
