Maria L. Coronado, 79, of Hereford, Texas, was born June 10, 1943, in Carlsbad New Mexico to Francisco Lopez and Manuela Melendrez.

After many years of serving the Lord, Maria transitioned to her heavenly home on April 1, 2023

Funeral services will be at Calvary Family Church, 137 Ave G, Hereford, TX with her son Ruben Coronado officiating the service on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 10 a.m. Private family burial to take place at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Viewing and Visitation will be from 2:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at Calvary Family Church with a Memorial Service beginning at 7:00 P.M.

She married Mario Coronado in 1965 and settled down to raise their children in Hereford.

Maria enjoyed spending time with her family, going to church, and taking care of her roses. She was well known for her faith in Christ and spent many hours praying for the lost, sick and those having a special need. She served at Calvary Family Church and especially enjoyed doing outreach ministry such as vacation bible school and donating to the homeless ministry.

Maria was described by her grandchildren as a prayer warrior, strong-willed, independent, caring, and funny, an example of forgiveness, accepting of everyone, she loved her coffee, pan dulce and having her hair done. She was very protective of her children and enjoyed spending time at the ranch and being outdoors.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco Lopez and Manuela Melendrez, husband Mario Coronado, stepfather Nicolas Melendrez, siblings Dionicio Ortega, Betty Gutierrez, Felix Melendrez, and Frances Lopez.

Left to cherish her memory are her brother, Paul Melendrez and sister Amelia Davalos, both of Hereford, her children; Jovita Lopez of Houston Texas, Mario Coronado and Maria Gil, of Canyon, Texas, Ruben Coronado and wife Diana of Hereford, Mario Coronado of Carlsbad New Mexico. Irene Gamez and husband Gabriel of Hereford, Anita Munguia and husband Conrad of Pampa, Linda Coronado of Amarillo, Tommy Coronado of Hereford, Manuel Coronado of Hereford, Armando Coronado and wife Alice of Hereford, Rachel Guzman and husband Jaime of Hereford. She considered herself blessed to be a grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother of many grandchildren.
