Margarito Salazar, 90, died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at his home in Hereford, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the San Jose Catholic Church with Celebrant Ramón Molina officiating. Burial to follow in the St. Anthony's Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home in Hereford, Texas. The viewing will be on Thursday, March 4, 2021 from 4:00PM-8:00PM with rosary at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. A mask is required to attend all services. Your health and safety matter to us.

Margarito was born on February 8, 1931 in El Terrero Namiquipa, Chihuahua, Mexico, the son of Juan and Carmen (Castillo) Salazar. Margarito grew up in Mexico, in his youth he was hired through his agricultural work, which he did all his life, to come to the United States for months at a time. When Margarito turned 30, he received his U.S. citizenship and was here in the United States for 40 years with his family. He married the love of his life, Juana Reyes in 1955. Margarito attended San Jose Catholic Church in Hereford, he enjoyed making those in his presence laugh, he loved to socialize and visit with his family and friends, and even those he did not know, who later became his friends. Margarito loved and cared for his wife and tended to all her needs and wants. Margarito was an excellent father to his children, a wonderful husband, and a loving grandfather to his grandchildren.

Those who remain to treasure his memories are his wife, Juana Reyes de Salazar of Mexico, his children, Saul Salazar and his wife Luz Elva of Hereford, Sylvia I. Salazar of Dallas, Juan Salazar Reyes and his wife Betty of Hereford, Norma E. Loya and her husband Juan of México and Sergio R. Salazar and his wife Sylvia of Hereford; a brother, Reyes Salazar and his wife Manuela of Mexico and a sister, Berta Estrada of Juárez, Mexico; 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren

Margarito joins his parents, 4 brothers, Reynaldo, Luis, Hipolito and Andrés Salazar and 2 sisters, Santana Gutierrez, and María Ramos in heaven.
