Margarito "TaTa" Estrada, 97, a resident of Hereford, Texas for over 50 years passed away Monday, February 15, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, February 22, 2021 at 2:00 PM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Celebrant Nick Gerber officiating. Burial to follow at West Park Cemetery of Hereford, Texas. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be Sunday, February 21, 2021 from 4:00-8:00 PM with Vigil and rosary to begin at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. A face mask is required to attend the viewing, the rosary, vigil, and the mass. Your safety and health matter to us.

Margarito was born February 22, 1923 in Variadero, New Mexico to Lorenzo and Isabell (Salas) Estrada. Margarito has been a resident of Hereford for over 50 years. He married the love of his life, Alicia Gonzales Estrada, on November 27, 1955, they were married for 65 wonderful years. Margarito was a farm laborer, a mechanic, and he also enjoyed working on lawn mowers and windmills. In his younger day he loved to dance, he and his wife would attend many dances and they also loved to watch for hours the game channel. Margarito was known as "TaTa" to his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many others. "TaTa" enjoyed his Budweiser and his tobacco to the very end of his life. Many knew Margarito as the older man driving his scooter or his "carito" as he would call it, all around town or on the way to Wal-Mart. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. "TaTa" loved being around his grandchildren and always wanted them to make him his special Spam sandwich; he loved being the jokester of the family.  He has left many cherished and wonderful memories to his family.

Those left to cherish his wonderful memories are a daughter, Telina Estrada, his grandsons, Robert Estrada and his wife Minerva, Ben Estrada and Jesse Estrada all of Hereford, Texas; and a granddaughter, Roberta Estrada of Houston, Texas; 6 great grandchildren, Mia Estrada, Ezra  Arriaga, Elijah Arriaga, Mallory Arriaga, Jonathan Moreno and Faith Estrada, and a sister-in-law, Concepcion Estrada.

Margarito is joining his parents, his wife, Alicia Estrada, 2 sons, Michael and George Estrada, a grandson, Victor Estrada, a brother, Teofilo Estrada and 4 sisters, Carlota Estrada, Francis Gonzales, Dulcinea Estrada, and Isabel Estrada in heaven.
