Margarita Garza Cerda. 92 of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022, in Hereford, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at 10:00 AM at San Jose Catholic Church with Celebrant Ramon Molina officiating. Burial to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, from 1:00-8:00 PM and Wednesday, August 10, 2022, from 10:00 AM-8:00 PM with rosary at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Margarita was born on November 4, 1929, in Raymondville, Texas. To Jesus and Maria (Herebia) Garza. Margarita was a very strong woman who loved to spend time with her family. She loved to play bingo, loteria and paco, and going to the casinos. Margarita enjoyed making tamales with the help of her husband, Paulino. In her younger years she enjoyed dancing, sewing, knitting, and making clothes and blankets for her kids and grandkids. Margarita loved eating her nopales and menudo.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children Juan Cerda of Hereford, Texas, Imelda Saldana of Dallas, Texas, Rosalinda Cerda and Gloria Morales and her husband Isabel all of Hereford, Texas; two sisters Maria Garcia of Dallas, Texas, and Maria Elizondo of Edinburg, Texas; 17 grandchildren with three of those grandchildren being raised by Margarita, Eliza Davila, Annie Banda and Audrey Cerda all of Dallas, Texas; 43 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.

Margarita is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paulino Cerda, a son David Cerda, a daughter Dora Cerda, five sisters Felicitas Rios, Frances Salinas, Ester Flores, Estela Juarez, and Eva Madrigal, two brothers Mariano Garza and Jose Garza and two grandchildren Sarah Cerda and Jesse Cerda.
