Manuela "Nellie" "Meme" Peña, 96, a long-time resident of Hereford, Texas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family in Hereford. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at 2:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church with Celebrant Grant Spinhirne officiating. Burial to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery. Arrangements and funeral services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. The viewing will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025, from 3:00-8:00 PM and the rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Manuela was born on December 17, 1928, in Winters, Texas, to Encarnacion and Eustolia (Terraza) Mendoza. She has been a resident of Herford since the 1960's. Manuela was a great seamstress, she loved to dance, travel when she could, play Bingo and the lotería, but most of all spending quality time with her family and especially, her grandchildren. She was a fashionista who loved to dress to impress and always had her nails painted. Manuela was a longtime active member of San Jose Catholic Church and was also a Guadalupana. Manuela's presence and beautiful smile will be missed by all who loved her dearly.

Those left to cherish her memories are children, Albert Peña and his wife Elvira, Rose Leal and her husband Andres, Jr. all of Hereford, Texas, and Ricky Peña and Valerie of Visalia, California; 10 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Manuela is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Albert Peña, her daughter, Geneva Peña, an infant son, 3 sisters, and 4 brothers.
